Training Practice
Training Practice
Westbourne Medical Centre is committed to ongoing learning and personal development. We are a training practice and have both GPs and Nurses in training working with us as part of the final parts of the vocational training. You may be offered appointments with our GP and nursing trainees at times.
We currently have two GP trainees at any one time. Having these trainees helps to provide our patients with the GPs of tomorrow. Many of our trainees have stayed with us after their training including in recent times Dr Raha, Dr Linton and Dr Smith.
We also have links with the Southampton University. We have a range of third, fourth and final year medical students that spend time with us. You will be asked if you are happy for the medical students to sit in with your Clinician, prior to your consultation.
If you have any questions, please speak to Beatriz Pereira our Placements Co-ordinator.
Video Recording of Consultations
We are a GP Training Practice as part of this, Clinicians might make recordings of their consultations with patients to help improve both their consultation and communication skills.
The Clinician will always request written consent before your consultation is recorded, under no circumstances would we record examinations where removal of clothing is required.
After the consultation, you will need to sign the consent form again to say that you are still happy for the recording to be used for training purposes.
If you do not want your consultation recorded, please let us know. This is entirely your choice and will not affect your health care.
